For women in disadvantaged communities a bra is often unobtainable or unaffordable. This project collects new and second hand bras and sends them wherever we have requests.

Post bras direct to our receiving countries

This is the easiest (but most expensive) way of getting bras to the recipients. Per bra it is 10 times the cost of shipping by sea, but it allows us to get small quantities into places we can't ship to.

If you are outside Australia/NZ with a small number of bras to send, it is better to post direct to the receiving country than to Australia.

Remove shop tags and hangers. Many women donate unworn bras with the cardboard tags and hangers still attached. While they may be "as new", if they've been lying in a drawer for years they are technically second hand and will not attract the import duty of new items. Remove shop tags and hangers before posting to avoid potential mix-ups which could result in expensive Customs charges being paid by the receiver.

If you do post bras, please send an email to tell us, so we can add to our stats!

Take bras with you when you travel

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Taking bras when you travel overseas is unlikely while non-essential travel bans are in place.

Sending bras in the UK or the USA

There are organisations in other parts of the world that have objectives similar to Uplift. Sending bras to them will save on both postage and the carbon footprint of transport.
